General Purpose

Responsible for maintaining student records including and not limited to student enrollment, transfers and withdrawals.  Works independently in the performance of all functions necessary to maintain an efficient and organized environment in a professional and confidential manner.

 

Term:  7.5 hours per day; Monday through Friday; 42 weeks per year

 

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Assists building administration and counselor to enroll and withdraw students
  • Requests transcripts for incoming students
  • Sends transcripts for withdrawn students and removes permanent records from building
  • Assists counselor in scheduling students
  • Keeps log of permanent records as they are received and sent out of the building
  • Keeps all permanent records and computer files updated
  • Handles assignments of student lockers and daily changes or problems
  • Assists with printing and distributing the teachers add/drop list daily
  • Assists with printing, distributing and collecting scan sheets each grading period
  • Assists with scanning grades and updating files each grading period
  • Assists with printing and distributing report cards to homeroom teachers each grading period
  • Attach labels, attendance and testing results to permanent records
  • Separate and send 8th grade permanent records to receiving high school at the end of the school year
  • Release information to various organizations: i.e. hospitals, social security office, etc.
  • Assists with adding grade changes per the teachers
  • Log hourly tardiness for students, issue letters, detentions, etc.
  • Assist with printing class rosters, labels and other reports as needed
  • Do miscellaneous work for counselors (scheduling, letters, reports, etc.)
  • Enter scholastic data for transfer students from Barker Middle School for previous grading periods
  • Help treasurer/secretary with discipline typing
  • Issue tardy, unexcused and excused absence slips in the morning
  • Issue early dismissals
  • Answer phone
  • Take care of ill student when the nurse is not on duty
  • Get homework assignments and books for ill students
  • Recognize when a student is in a crisis situation and needs a counselor immediately
  • Assists with the organization and monitoring of the detention and academic alternative list daily
  • Any other duties assigned by the Principal or Assistant Principal

 

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in typing, filing and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher)
  • Working knowledge of basic office procedures and the operation of common office equipment and machines
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with students, parents, faculty and administration
  • Must be dependable and trustworthy as much of the assigned work is confidential
  • High school diploma or GED

Payment type:  $13.00 per hour

 

Benefits:  per MCESP Agreement
